Description

A flavorful Greek dish of wild mushrooms sautéed with herbs and aromatics, perfect as a side or light main. Earthy, simple, and rich in Mediterranean taste.

Ingredients

  • 500 g wild mushrooms
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 1 onion
  • 1 tbsp thyme
  • 1 tbsp parsley
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Clean the mushrooms thoroughly and cut into large pieces if needed.
  2. Heat the olive oil in a large pan over medium-high heat.
  3. Finely chop the onion and garlic, then sauté in the pan until softened.
  4. Add the mushrooms and cook until they release their moisture and begin to brown.
  5. Season with salt, pepper, and thyme, stirring occasionally.
  6. Add the butter and continue cooking until the mushrooms are nicely caramelized.
  7. Finish with fresh parsley and lemon juice, then mix well.
  8. Serve warm as a side dish or light main.

Notes

  • You can use a mix of cultivated mushrooms if wild mushrooms are unavailable.
  • Serve with crusty bread or alongside grilled meats.
  • A splash of white wine can be added during cooking for extra flavor.
  • Best enjoyed fresh but can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
