Description

Bread Pakora is a popular Indian street food made with bread slices stuffed with a flavorful potato filling, dipped in spiced gram flour batter, and deep-fried until golden and crispy. Perfect as a tea-time snack or appetizer.

Ingredients

  • 8 bread slices
  • 3 medium potatoes, boiled and mashed
  • 1 cup gram flour (besan)
  • 2 tablespoons rice flour
  • 1 green chili, finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon ginger, grated
  • 2 tablespoons cilantro, chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala
  • 1/2 teaspoon ajwain (carom seeds)
  • Salt to taste
  • Water as needed
  • Oil for deep frying

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine mashed potatoes, green chili, ginger, cilantro, garam masala, and salt. Mix well to prepare the filling.
  2. In another bowl, whisk together gram flour, rice flour, turmeric, red chili powder, ajwain, salt, and water to make a smooth batter.
  3. Spread the potato filling between two bread slices and cut diagonally if desired.
  4. Heat oil in a deep pan over medium heat.
  5. Dip each stuffed bread sandwich into the batter, coating evenly.
  6. Carefully place into hot oil and fry until golden brown and crispy on all sides.
  7. Remove and drain excess oil on paper towels.
  8. Serve hot with green chutney or ketchup.
