Description
Sweet and spicy maple roasted Brussels sprouts with crispy edges and a tender center, perfect as a flavorful side dish.
Ingredients
- 2 lbs brussels sprouts
- 3 tbsp melted coconut oil or olive oil
- 1/2 tbsp chili flakes (crushed red pepper) or cracked black pepper
- 1/4 cup maple syrup
- 1/2 tsp sea salt or kosher salt
- More salt to taste
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 425°F.
- Line a half sheet pan with parchment paper or foil for easy cleanup.
- Wash the brussels sprouts, trim the stems, and cut them in half. Pat dry thoroughly with paper towels.
- Place the prepared brussels sprouts in a large bowl.
- Add the oil, chili flakes or black pepper, maple syrup, and salt. Toss well to coat.
- Optionally drizzle a little extra oil on the lined baking tray to prevent sticking.
- Spread the brussels sprouts evenly on the baking tray.
- Roast for about 30 minutes, checking halfway to prevent burning. For more caramelization, roast an additional 5–10 minutes.
- Remove from oven, taste, and adjust seasoning with more salt if needed. Toss and serve.
Notes
- Patting the brussels sprouts dry helps them crisp better during roasting.
- Parchment paper prevents sticking better than foil.
- Adjust chili flakes to control heat level.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
- Reheat in the oven for best texture.
